Here
are some different types of spacecraft loads
that stress the structure throughout its life.
Loads
Static
loads are constantly applied to a structure.
Dynamic
loads vary over time.
Axial
loads are applied along a structure's longitudinal
axis.
Lateral
loads are applied along a structure's lateral axis.
Torsional
loads apply torque to a structure.
Compressive
loads are axial and press in on a structure from
the ends.
Tensile
loads are axial and pull a structure apart from
the ends.
