Conceptual
Design Review
(CoDR)
is held at the end of the Conceptual Design Phase
so that significant changes are identified early
to minimize their effects on schedules and costs.
Preliminary
Design Review
(PDR)
is held at the end of the Preliminary Design Phase
to approve the design. Completed action items
from the CoDR and subsystem developmental progress
are reviewed to determine when the design team
should initiate their Detailed Design Phase.
Critical
Design Review (CDR)
is held at the end of the Detailed Design Phase
to certify the detailed design. Final system and
subsystem designs are reviewed to ensure they
meet all of their specifications. CDR action item
closure formally completes the design.
Engineering
Design Review
(EDR) is one all-inclusive review used for simpler
subsystems, instead of the more involved series
of reviews described above. The intent is to produce
a product as close to that of a CDR detailed design
phase review as possible.
