A spacecraft's intended orientation in space depends upon payload requirements. For example, the Hubble Space Telescope payload sensors are oriented towards planets and stars. Spacecraft attitude is determined with onboard sensors and controlled by algorithms to make this possible.

Attitude Determination and Control

Attitude dynamics is the response of a body to applied torque.

Attitude determination defines how a vehicle is aligned in space.

Attitude control includes both vehicle stabilization and maneuvers.
